Every August, even as I rapidly approach 40(!), I start to get the itch for new, fall clothes. By Labor Day, I'm dying to dress in corduroy, tweed, and wool. Boots and jeans and tights and skirts consume my thoughts. As much as I love the lightness of my summer wardrobe and the openness of sandals, I start craving the cozy clothes of the cooler months.
September is rarely a cool month in SE WI, so I continue to wait for the opportunity to pull those items back into rotation. But that doesn't mean I have to skip a nod to the change of seasons and to the nostalgia of those childhood days of picking out that perfect outfit for the first day of school.
Maxi dress & denim jacket: Lane Bryant
Camisole: Kohls.com
Shoes: Earthies, via 6PM.com
Necklace: Fashion Bug*
Earrings: Sparrow Collective - one of my very favorite local shops!
*I'm fairly saddened by the demise of the Fashion Bug brand. Aside from being only one of two places within a couple minutes' drive of my house to shop for clothing, it is one of the few (only?) places where nearly all of the pieces are available across sizes from XS to 4X. As an inexpensive source of both trends and basic layering pieces for women of all sizes, my local shop has been very much a go-to for me over the years.
